Winter Mix is a good draining soil & falls with the optimum pH scale.Fall planting usually requires less watering and temperatures favorable for germination. Our “Economy Mix” is a nutrient rich top soil that is great for gardens!
Planting Tips: First, calculate the square footage of space for your new lawn. To figure square footage, simply multiply the length and width. Next, examine the amount of light the area receives. There are seed mixes for every kind of situation. Shade, sun, high traffic, water conservation, & environmentally sound seeds are now available. Select a variety that is well-suited to the Maritime Northwest. Turf-type perennial rye grasses and fine-leaved fescues are well-adapted to western Washington.

A light application of “Sunset’s fine mulched Organic Compost” no more than one-quarter inch may be spread on top to help retain moisture and hide seeds from birds.
